Aside from the most ambitious performance of Black House to date, this Friday will feature the premier of my new quartet featuring Matt Leifer-drums, Jeff Stocks-guitar and Russell Thorpe-winds. I've been exploring the limitation of only a tenor sax and a computer for the past couple of years now with a project I've been calling "hominid." With the "hominid quartet" I've been expanding this work while keeping the computer as the focal point of composition.
I've always maintained that BHIC is supposed to inspire musicians to pursue their own projects and this mine. It's nice to be able to present work that's a better representation of my personal aesthetic. We'll perform a short set right after the collective is finished. So don't just leave after the Collective's performance.
