Black House is happy to announce that the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation has awarded us a $30,000 SEED Grant, through which we will receive three years of unrestricted capital to run the organization.
The SEED Grant is awarded to arts organizations in the early stages of their growth in culturally rich but underfunded areas. Black House Collective was recognized along with 15 other organizations in Kansas City, Buffalo, Boise, Cleveland and Phoenix. Organizations are anonymously nominated by community leaders.
The SEED Grant allows us to move forward with our mission to bring a new and exciting compositional culture to Kansas City. Along with its regular residencies, the SEED Grant will allow Black House to make strides in documentation, collaboration and new ventures, including the production of new operatic and chamber works. We will produce a series of chamber operas in 2014, incorporating multimedia and performance to create modern works. A call for entries will go out in early 2014.
